Overview

Some people buy grease traps based on the physical size of their store. The problem here is that grease traps are measured by the output of water flow, not the capacity of a restaurant. Some bigger stores may need a GI-100, but some smaller stores with a greater output may also need the same exact size. Ask yourself the right questions- how many fats and oils does your food produce? Do you need a small, medium or large grease trap? The question for the restaurant owner is not whether you should get one, but rather it is “Which one should you get?” The GI-100 is our biggest grease interceptor. Atlantic Metalworks’s equipment is promised to be free of defects in material and flaws in workmanship for an entire year from the date you purchase it. With a very sturdy carbon steel design and PDI certificate of approval, our largest grease trap available will keep excess oils, fats, and grease from blocking up a main sewage line or breaking your pipes. Invest in one today!

Still confused as to what Grease Traps are and why you actually need one? Browse through our blogs on Grease Traps, we have posts on Types, Sizing, the History of Grease Interceptors, a Cleaning Video, and a Cleaning Log.

Q&A

I need a 100 gallon capacity grease trap cars can drive over occasionally. It will be inside of a building and they may bring cars inside for parties. Which model should I purchase?

Asked by: Edwin
The GI-100 is our 100 pound, 50 gallon per minute trap. This is currently the largest we carry. We have not tested driving over it so we cannot certify that it would work for this specific application.

My city is using gallon capacity not water retention or pounds for measuring. They are also using seating capacity to determine size needed. Is this item comparable to "minimum storage capacity not less than 1,000 gallons"?

Asked by: miserable in evv
We do not have data on the exact storage capacity of this grease trap, but I know it is far less than 1,000 gallons. Unfortunately we do not carry anything that large that would suit your needs.

how high is the intake on the tank from the floor

Asked by: pup cole
It's 14 1/2" from the bottom of the trap to the bottom of the pipe fitting. I would recommend examining the dimensions on the specifications sheet under the "Specs" tab to make sure the trap fits your needs.

Can you pipe 2 20lb traps to a 50lb and plumb them together..I have 2 prep sinks that require 40lbs which I am doing 2 20lb and I was going to run them to the outlet of the 50lb pipe and go into a floor drain. Can this be done?

Asked by: christy
That is a great question! However, this would need to be taken up with a professional plumber to ensure you get the most reliable and accurate information.

For are and site specific applications, you would need to check with a plumber and your health department to make sure everything would be to code. Thanks!
