Hi. I'm Danielle from Ice-O-Matic. Once you made the investment in an Ice-O-Matic ice machine, you'll want to be sure to protect your new unit. Let me give you a few tips to increase the life of your machine. We've designed our units to be simple and easy to clean. Performing a basic cleaning every six months, or as required, is enough to ensure your machine lasts longer, performs better, and gives better tasting ice to your customers. So, let's get started. The first thing you need to do is remove the ice from the bin. Then, remove the front panel and start cleaning the evaporator. Use a nickel-safe ice machine cleaning fluid according to the manufacturer's guidelines.

Check it outPour it into the water trough and allow it to circulate for about 15 minutes. Then, purge the machine. Repeat the process with an EPA approved sanitizer. The solutions will wash through the interior of the unit and out of the machine. Next, simply wipe down the exterior and interior of the unit with soap and water and a soft cloth. If at any point you do see anything not working properly, contact your nearest Ice-O-Matic certified technician. And that's it. You're ready to start making ice again. But, be sure to discard the first two batches of ice before serving to customers.
Now, you might be wondering about air filter replacement. Most Ice-O-Matic machines are designed with filter-free air. On the back of the machine, simply brush off the coils as necessary. There's no cleaning or changing dirty filters ever. The only exceptions are with our GEM Pearl ice machines and MFI Series modular flake ice machines. These filters can be quickly removed and rinsed off, and then reused. Be sure to rinse every 30 days for best results. Following these simple cleaning and maintenance instructions will protect your ice machines and provide customers with pure, tasteless ice for years to come.
