Vitamix 1003 - Vita Prep Kitchen Blender (like 5000) 48 oz is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from State of the art for home kitchen About a year ago I have bought my first Vitamix after being seriously attracted to raw foodism. This purchase was inspired by all the ecstatic praise about Vitamix products. And now I've bought the second - for my mom. They say the price is "big" compared to "normal" blender. But Vitamix is not normal, it is a Ferrari of the kitchen. It tears apart everything from dill to bananas. It never fails and it very reliable (I've triggered its overheat protection not once). Truly, this is one appliance to rule them all. I use it to prepare my every dish except for juices. Vitamix is sturdy, I can readily believe it will live its 10 years of warranty and much longer. Several times (when I was a beginner) I have been careless enough and haven't put on the cover. The pusher (coming with the blender!) got to the blade and whoosh... with a clank the pusher almost hopped out from my hand. But know what? It only had a scratch on the bottom. I have checked the blade - not a single shard or sign of corruptness. Guess because of this soon after I was even more careless and used spoon (apparently I was deep in my thoughts to have done this). Well, the result was the same. No damage. Before Vitamix for a short time I have a Korean blender (Gastorag) that is 3 times as cheap and the same by specifications. But dear, its pusher got squashed right after the first incident with forgotten cover. And one of the blade's sides got considerably twisted. This is not VItamix. With VItamix you can grind bricks. That's not to mention Gastorag did not produce a perfect texture of the latter. So my advice to everyone: if you are going to use this blender as your main kitchen friend - invest into Vitamix. You will not be disappointed. And the price on Prima Supply is the best I could find in the US. And it didn't drop a cent since last year which certainly speaks well for the product!
